Iranian women finally enter football stadium for first time time since 1981; watch their team beat Cambodia 14-0 (photos)
For the first time in almost four decades, women were allowed to buy tickets and attend a match in Iran. 1981 was the last time they watched a football game, that is about 40 years. When Iran’s national football team took the field on Thursday at Tehran’s Azadi stadium for an otherwise humdrum World Cup qualifier, the focus in the game was not in the action on the field but on who was seated in the stands. Over 3000 women were seen happily celebrating with their team as they beat Cambodia a massive 14-0.
